The Divine Journey

Bapu Shardha Ram Ji Maharaj was born on 20 Baishakh, Samvat 1945 Vikrami (1 May 1888) in Village Atti, District Jalandhar, Punjab, to Govind Das Ji and Mata Ishra Devi Ji. He received Naam Diksha from Mahabali Bapu Harnam Ji Maharaj and devoted himself entirely to seva, continuous Gurbani recitation, and Kirtan.

His spiritual accomplishments were extraordinary — he completed 101 recitations of the Guru Granth Sahib while standing on one leg and had memorized the entire Bani. His core message to the Sangat was simple yet profound: "Meetha Bolo, Nive Chalo, Hathon Vi Kuch Dey" — Speak sweetly, walk humbly, and give with your hands.

Beyond his spiritual mastery, Bapu Shardha Ram Ji Maharaj was a visionary builder and social reformer. He founded a Middle School for Rural Girls, established the Sangat Niwas, created Prem Anjan and Surma for the service of the people, founded the Maagh Mahatam celebration, established the Dharm Arth Charitable Trust, and started the Prem Party for daily Keertan — ensuring that devotion, education, and charity became inseparable pillars of the Darbar tradition.

He guided six prominent disciples — Rishi Thakur Das Ji Maharaj of Haripur Khalsa, Bapu Gurdas Ram Ji Maharaj and Bapu Bhanu Dutt Ji Maharaj of Nandachaur, Sant Mahendar Singh Ji and Bapu Chaman Lal Ji Pujara of Durangla, and Sant Amar Singh Ji of Budhpur, Delhi — each of whom carried forward his divine legacy across Punjab, Delhi, and Uttarakhand. He merged into the Divine Light (Jyoti Jyot) on 19 Maghar, Samvat 2031 Vikrami (4 December 1974) at Nandachaur.

Meetha Bolo, Nive Chalo, Hathon Vi Kuch Dey — Speak sweetly, walk humbly, and give with your hands.
